Motorshow 2007
At 10am on Sunday the 12th of August, our Club's inaugural Motor Show opened to the public at Sutton Fields, Sutton Weaver.
The day itself was blessed, for the major part, with fine weather although on two brief occasions the vagaries of the English Summer were experienced!
Following much hard work by our Club's organizers, we were pleased to have a total of 104 Vehicles entered for the Motor Show and this fine and diverse display was viewed with great interest by some 1500 visitors to the ground.
It is pleasing to note that the day itself, was not restricted to the pure enthusiasts, but Young Families and Children's Organizations were encouraged with free entry for the under 12's along with the provision of Fairground Rides and Attractions, with Candy Floss being an optional extra that was available for all to buy!
The Motor Show itself featured four different Categories of Entries, these being Classic Cars, American Cars, Special Interest Vehicles with Custom & Modified Cars, and finally a Non-Judged Section.
With entrants being drawn from far and wide from both Individual Enthusiasts and Car Clubs alike, the competition for Show Prizes was, as expected, intense and honourably competitive.
Following the judging of all of the Entries, the Trophies were presented by our two Special Guests, Richard Sproston, a former Formula Ford driver and current Commentator at Oulton Park, and Dave MacIntyre the AA Patrol Man of the Year.
And now to the results: Our three Category Winners were:-
* Classic Cars - 1969 Jensen Interceptor Mk1, owned by Paul Lee of Halewood.
* American Cars - 1958 Oldsmobile Super 88, owned by Barry Cunliffe of Bolton.
* SIV with C&M Cars - 1978 Ford Capri Mk3, owned by Colin Brick of Birkenhead.
However, the Car taking the coveted prize 'Spirit of the Show' was the wonderful 959 Vauxhall Cresta PA owned by Roy Gaskill of Carrington, who, as can be seen from the photograph, is clearly pleased with his award from Richard & Dave.
